Skateboard Recycling | Posted on March 11, 2010
Opportunty Type: program
There's probably close to 50 used skateboards stacked up in our storage space right now. As you've seen on the Recycling Skateboards page, we cut these used skateboards into useful items such as keychains and necklaces - so far. We're looking to do the same type of recycling with these boards, however, maybe experiment making other items such as belt buckles, clothing attachments, and whatever else you can think of.
Here's some ideas that are possible:
For the people who apply, we will give out a number of boards for them to use for free, all they will need are the workshop supplies such as a saw, sander, drill, etc. If attachments and other accessories are needed for your brilliant idea like metal clips or chains, we will consider providing those to you as well. As for us displaying them and/or auctioning the recycled pieces, the person who helped make them will get 100% credit for the item - you hear that artists?!

Skatepark and Shop Researcher | Posted on March 11, 2010
Enjoy visiting skateparks? lots of them? If yes, you're the perfect volunteer for this job. We need someone who can journey to local skateparks and shops to shoot photos and get stats for our website.
On our skateparks and skate shops pages we provide information on most of these places in Northern Virginia but they're starting to get outdated. You would have the responsibility to update these photos and research necessary information about the place - website, phone number, etc.
We would also keep in touch with you about new skateparks and skate shops opening in the area, such as in Herndon this summer.

Do you enjoy writing? are you creative with it? then you may want to apply to be LOCO's blogger.
We're looking for someone who can write about all aspects of skate culture in a fun and creative way that will attract readers. As of now, our blog is pretty lame, mainly because it's rarely updated - this is why we're asking for someone to help out.
Being a blogger, you'll get to volunteer your time on your own time and in any place you wish - at school, at work, in your sleep... you get the point.
There's no blogging experience required - just creativity and knowledge of spelling words correctly!
Send us an email with something that says you're interested, and we'll send you a sample story to see how you do.
